Today the public broadcaster of Cyprus, CyBC, announced that singer Andrew Lambrou will fly the Cypriot flag in Liverpool during the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. His entry is unknown yet. With going public with their 2023 representative today Cyprus is the second country to do so after Israel.
Internal decision
Next to being chosen internally by the Cypriot national broadcaster CyBC, the choice for Andrew Lambrou was also made by CyBC’s most important advisers Panik Records and City Pop Records; the latter is an Australian record company. A song is not chosen yet for the upcoming Cypriot representative.
About Andrew Lambrou
Andrew Lambrou is the child of Greek-Cypriot parents, and was raised in Sydney, Australia. In 2022 the singer took part in the Australian show “Eurovision 2022: Australia Decides”, but he did not make it to the contest in Turin, because he finished in 7th place, and eventually Sheldon Reiley took part in the contest with the song “Not the Same”, finishing 15th in the Grand Final.

In 2022 singer Andromache took part for Cyprus, but she did not make it into the Grand Final, finishing 12th in the Second Semi-final; this instance marked the first time that Cyprus did not make it into the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest since 2013.
