In the contest of 2022 Azerbaijani singer Nadir Rustamli ended 10th (out of 18) in Semi-final 2, and in the Grand Final he ended 16th (out of 25); that Rustamli progressed to the Grand Final has never been done with 0 points from the public vote.
General open call
The Azerbaijani national broadcaster, Ictimai, has opted for a general open call for both singers and songwriters alike to apply. This means that performers and composers can send in their performances, demos, and also new songs to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom. They can do so until December 31st 2022.
Extra submission rules
Next to a song or a performance, singers also need to submit a short biography about themselves, and they need to meet the rules that Ictimai has linked to submissions.
Direct application
It is the first time in years that artists who want to represent Azerbaijan can directly apply to represent this country in the Eurovision Song Contest. Normally Azerbaijan opts for a song submission only.
