We had to wait for it for quite a while, but the song with which DJ Lum!x and Pia Maria will represent Austria is finally fully revealed. The name of the song is “Halo”; DJ Lum!x made the music, and Pia Maria sings the lyrics.

“Halo” in LUM!X’s words is a song about going back to what we did before the lockdown. Now we can finally go back to partying, clubbing and having fun. The constant energy of ‘Halo’ provides the perfect soundtrack for that return to our old life. From the songwriting to the production, it suits a song that has a festive tone, but at the same time fits as pop music on the radio.
The track has been composed by: Luca Michlmayr, Gabriele Ponte, Anders Nilsen, Rasmus Flyckt and Sophie Alexandra Tweed-Simmons. “Halo” has been produced by LUM!X and Anders Nilsen and mixed by Florian Feller. You can listen to the track and watch the music video below:
How was the song revealed?
The Austrian song for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Turin (Italy) was revealed on the morning radio show “Wecker am Freitag” on the Austrian radio channel Ö3 Hitradio. During the show the veil was finally lifted from the song for the world to hear and see. Simultaneously with the reveal on Austrian radio the whole world could listen to the song on music streaming services, and several official video channels, i.e. YouTube.
About the artists
This year’s entry of Austria is the DJ-singer duo “DJ Lum!x feat. Pia Maria”. They will perform the song “Halo” in the first Semi-final.
DJ Lum!x had his worldwide break in music with the song “Monster”; he managed to get billions of streams on online music services internationally. Lum!x is one of Austria’s most influential export products.
Pia Maria is 18 years old, and comes from the Austrian Tyrol region. She works as a make-up artist at the Tyrolean State Theater in the city of Innsbruck in Austria. Pia has been writing songs since the age of 16, and quite simultaneously started her singing career.
Last year’s Austrian entry
Last year Austria sent Vincent Bueno to the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Vincent did not manage to reach the Grand Final of the contest, so the Austrians are hoping to do better with the upcoming DJ – singer duo they send this year.
Eurovision Song Contest 2022
The Eurovision Song Contest 2022 will take place on the 10th (Semi-final 1), 12th (Semi-final 2), and 14th (Grand Final) of May 2022 in Turin, Italy. Switzerland will compete in the second half of the first Semi-final on the 10th of May 2022.
