Alec Burette will be heading to Ta’ Qali. The broadcaster France Télévisions has placed its trust in the young singer and pianist to represent France on the stage of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre (MFCC) in the Maltese city.
As has been customary since its return in Minsk 2018, France has internally selected its representative for what will be its 10th participation in the European contest.
After confirming its participation during the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna (Austria), this Saturday, June 20, the French public broadcaster took advantage of the celebration of La Fête de la Musique to reveal the big mystery. The concert, held from 21:15 CEST at the Théâtre Antique d’Orange, featured some of the most prominent names in French music. Among them was Monroe, France’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with “Regarde!”.
The challenge facing Alec Burette is a significant one. Following Lou Deleuze’s victory in Tbilisi 2025, the 12-year-old artist will attempt to match that result in Ta’ Qali 2026. Let us remember that France secured its fourth victory in the children’s contest, but declined to organize the musical event due to the budgetary situation of France Télévisions, which is facing significant budget cuts this year. This led to the selection of Malta as the host country for the 24th edition of the competition.
