Gianluca Cilia wins Maltese final for Junior Eurovision 2017

The Maltese final for Junior Eurovision 2017 has just taken place live from PBS studios. A few moments ago, 9 years old Gianluca Cilia has been named the winner of MJESC 2017, so he will represent the Mediterranean country on November 26 in Tbilisi. 

About Gianluca Cilia:

Gianluca Cilia was born on the 12th November 2007 and lives in Naxxar. Gianluca goes to St Frances School Birkirkara. He is very proficient in writing and his aspirations are to become an author and singer.

Gianluca started singing at the age of 6. He takes singing and music theory lessons at Harmonic Ensemble. His first major festival was in 2015, ‘Oltreoceano’ in Palermo where he placed first. A year later he was chosen to represent Malta in an International Singing Festival in Romania, where he placed third with an original song by the name of ‘Mamma Io canto per te’. In the same year Gianluca took part in the first edition of ‘Arpeggio’ – an International Singing Festival, held in Malta and organised by Erseb Productions where he was the Grand Prix winner.

In his free time Gianluca enjoys, reading, playing with his ipad, and is passionate about lego.

As in previous years, PBS will select the singer and song separately as the song the winner of the Maltese national selection will perform will be decided by the broadcaster. The song presentation is expected to take place later this year.
