Eurovision Eurovision 2018 Russia

Yulia Samoylova confirmed as the Russian entrant for Eurovision 2018

The singer has been rumoured for months since Channel One in Russia announced she would be set to comeback for this year’s Eurovision after breakdown in Kiev

Yulia Samoylova will represent her motherland Russia at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Portugal. The singer will finally achieve her lifetime dream of singing on the big stage.

The song that Yulia will perform in May has not been revealed yet, although it was reported by her managenent team that the singer has been working on two songs: one talking about the space and another one fairytale-themed. It will be confirmed and published throughout the upcoming weeks.

Samoylova and her team are also considering whether to sing in Russian or English language as well as the stage performance and which clothing style she will be wearing. The singer expressed their desire to keep it modern and contemporary. It looks like Alexey K. Golubev, who previously worked with Polina Gagarina in her Eurovision performance, will be helping out Samoylova when it comes to the visual presentation of the song.

“Yulia Samoylova was born in 1989 in Ukhta, Russia. The singer-songwriter was a finalist in X Factor in Russia and has also won an award called Alla’s Golden Star, which was named after Russia’s 1997 Eurovision participant Alla Pugacheva. Yulia also performed during the opening ceremony of the Winter Paralympics in Sochi in 2014″ (Eurovision.tv).

The singer was selected to compete at last year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev with the song “Flame Is Burning” but later withdrew due to political circumstances and tensions between the Ukranian and Russian governments.
