Go-Jo: Australia’s Rising Star

Born Marty Zambotto in Manjimup, Western Australia, Go-Jo has rapidly become one of the most exciting talents in the Australian music industry. Known for his infectious pop sound, he is not only a singer but also a songwriter and producer. With a knack for crafting viral hits, Go-Jo’s rise to fame has been fueled by his engaging social media presence and undeniable musical talent.

Early Musical Journey

Music has always been a major part of Go-Jo’s life. Coming from a musical family, he was introduced to instruments at a young age. His father, a drummer, and his mother, a passionate singer, nurtured his artistic inclinations. At just six years old, he started playing the piano, and a few years later, he picked up the guitar—two skills that would become the foundation of his songwriting and production career.

During his teenage years, he developed a deep love for pop, R&B, and hip-hop, shaping his unique sound. Before launching his solo career, Go-Jo worked as a producer and songwriter for various artists, gaining valuable experience in the music industry.

Breakthrough and Viral Success

In 2016, Go-Jo made his official debut with the song “Nobody Like You” alongside Emma Carn. Over the years, he continued to build his profile with releases like “Incredible” (2018), “With You”, and “Phases”. However, his big break came when his emotional cover of “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls amassed over 3 million streams on Spotify, earning him widespread recognition.

His breakthrough moment on social media arrived in 2023 when a TikTok video featuring him performing “Mrs. Hollywood” in a shopping mall went viral, surpassing one million views in just a few days. This viral success catapulted Go-Jo to a global audience, further cementing his place in the industry.

Eurovision 2025: Meet “Milkshake Man”

Now, in 2025, Go-Jo is set to take on his biggest challenge yet—representing Australia at Eurovision. His entry, “Milkshake Man,” is a bold and energetic synth-pop track designed to uplift and inspire. You can check the full lyrics below:

Come and take a sip from my special cup
I heard that you could use a little pick-me-up
What can get you high when you’re oh-so sad?
It’s the milk from the milkshake man

(Ah) Well, I got chocolate, vanilla and lactose-free
(Ah) And a caramel banana that you have got to see

You can call me the milkshake man
I wanna shake and make the whole world dance
They drink my milk all across the land
I can tell you want a taste of the milkshake man

Sh-sh-shake me good, sh-sh-shake me good
I can tell you want a taste of the milkshake man
Sh-sh-shake me good, sh-sh-shakе me good
I can tell you want a taste of thе milkshake man

The shake is not a drink, it’s a state of mind
It’s a secret superpower you were born to find
Drink it every day and, before you know
You’ll be bigger and stronger with harder bones (Woo)

(Ah) Well, I got mango, mojito, a fruit ballet
(Ah) And did you see the naughty special on my crême brûlée?

You can call me the milkshake man
I wanna shake up all the milk I can
They know my name all across the land
I can tell you want a taste of the milkshake man

Sh-sh-shake me good, sh-sh-shake me good
I can tell you want a taste of the milkshake man
Sh-sh-shake me good, sh-sh-shake me good
I can tell you want a taste of the milkshake man

Excusez-moi, monsieur, avez-vous du lait pour moi ?
When I say, “Sweet, sweet”, you say, “Yum, yum”
Sweet, sweet (Yum, yum)
Sweet, sweet (Yum, yum)
When I say, “Sweet, sweet”, you say, “Yum, yum”
Sweet, sweet (Yum, yum)
Sweet, sweet (Yum, yum)

Sh-sh-shake me good, sh-sh-shake me good
I can tell you want a taste of the milkshake man
Sh-sh-shake me good, sh-sh-shake me good
I can tell you want a taste of the milkshake man
Sh-sh-shake me good, sh-sh-shake me good
I can tell you want a taste of the milkshake man
Sh-sh-shake me good, sh-sh-shake me good
I can tell you want a taste of the milkshake man

The Team Behind the Song

“Milkshake Man” is co-written by Go-Jo alongside Amy Sheppard, George Sheppard, and Jason Bovino—all members of the well-known Australian band Sheppard. Fans of Eurovision will remember Sheppard from Australia Decides 2019, where they finished in third place with their song “On My Way”.

Australia’s Eurovision Journey

Australia debuted in Eurovision 2015, making history as one of the few non-European countries invited to compete. Since then, the country has consistently delivered strong performances, reaching the Grand Final multiple times. The nation’s best result came in 2016, when Dami Im finished second with “Sound of Silence” after winning the jury vote.

In 2023, the progressive metal band Voyager finished in 9th place with their song “Promise”. However, in 2024, Electric Fields failed to qualify for the final with their entry “One Milkali (One Blood)”, marking only the second time that Australia missed out on the Grand Final.

Eurovision 2025: The Return to Switzerland

Following Nemo’s victory at Eurovision 2024 with “The Code,” the contest returns to Switzerland for the first time in 36 years. Basel will host the 69th edition of the contest on May 13, 15, and 17, 2025. Can Go-Jo bring Australia back to the Eurovision final? Only time will tell, but with “Milkshake Man”, he’s ready to shake things up!
