United Kingdom: TaP Music will not partner with the BBC again

Music management company “TaP Music” will not partner with the British national broadcaster, BBC, anymore to find the United Kingdom’s next entrant of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Since 2022

TaP Music has been involved in finding the next entrant of the UK since 2022 when they found Sam Ryder who sang the United Kingdom to a 2nd place (of 25) in Turin, Italy. The second placing of Sam Ryder was the best result of the UK in 20 years.

On social media X TaP Music has announced that the decision will be solely up to the BBC again.

Making changes

That TaP Music will not be participating in the process of finding a new British entrant again means that the BBC also needs to make the necessary changes to find an entrant for the contest of 2024 in Malmö, Sweden.

About TaP Music

TaP Music is responsible for artists with the likes of Lana del Rey and Caroline Polacheck. In 2022 TaP Music was partnered with the BBC to find a new contestant after the 2021 debacle in which the UK’s entrant, James Newman, received 0 points during the contest in Rotterdam (the Netherlands)  with the song “Embers”.

In 2023 the BBC and TaP Music chose artist Mae Muller with the song “I Wrote A Song” to represent the United Kingdom on home ground; Mae eventually ended 25th (of 26), which meant the penultimate place.
