Ukraine: Submissions open for Vidbir 2022

A few weeks ago, we knew that the Ukranian public broadcaster UA:PBC and the commercial broadcaster STB ended their collaboration agreement producing the Ukrainian national preselection after five years of cooperation. But Vidbir continues, so this time UA:PBC will organize the event by themselves.

The song submission period was opened today and it will be closed on October 24 at 22:59h CEST. Applications must be sent through an on-line request form available only in Ukranian.

Vidbir 2022 will start over February 12, 2022 at the latest. At the moment there is no further information about the number of shows, although it will depend on the quantity of artists competing at this edition.

Ukraine debuted at Eurovision in 2003 with Oleksandr Ponomariov and his song ‘Hasta La Vista’ finishing in 14th place. Since then Ukraine has won the contest twice, in 2004 with Ruslana and her entry ‘Wild Dances’ and in 2016 with Jamala and her song ‘1944’,

Go_A were selected in 2020 to represent Ukraine at Eurovision after winning the Vidbir, the country’s traditional national final, with ‘Solovey’. After the cancellation of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, Go_A had a new opportunity in 2021 after being re-elected internally with the song ‘Shum’ reaching the 5th position in the Gand Final.
