Ukraine: NTU opts for a national selection, auditions in December!

A few days ago, we were exclusively informed about how Ukraine and NTU would be selecting its 2016 entry, after a single year-break in 2015. Now, we can officially reveal more details and confirm it is absolutely true!

NTU in cooperation with private TV station STB will be in charge of picking the act who will be representing the country in Stockholm (Sweden) next May. The system chosen for the task includes auditions in different locations all over the country, to select the best singers and bands for the televised show or shows that will be announced soon.

The auditions will take place in the following dates and places:

  • 5-6/12 – Zaporizhia
  • 5-6/12 – Khrakov
  • 12-13/12 – Odessa
  • 12-13/12 – Lviv
  • 19-20/12 – Dnepropetrovsk
  • 19-20/12 – Kyiv

Artists and songs intended to apply must meet EBU’s regulations for the Eurovision Song Contest concerning the age limit and length of the songs.

“Over the past ten years we have managed to reach many top ten placings, indicating the high level of our representatives. The whole country is interested in our representative for Eurovision 2016 and this time the national selection will be even bigger so every citizen of Ukraine will find it interesting”, says Zurab Alasania, the General Director of NTU.

“STB’s experience of producing popular talent shows among the people of Ukraine will ensure a spectacular national selection that will provide the best representative for Eurovision 2016″, says Vladimir Borodyanka, STB’s CEO.

Last time Ukraine appeared on the Eurovision stage was in 2014, where Mariya Yaremchuk got a respectable 6th place for her catchy entry ”Tick Tock”.
