Tonight: Romania selects Roxen’s song for Eurovision

Today Romania will choose the song Roxen will perform at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. The young singer was selected internally by the broadcaster and Global Records among other potential candidates.

The last phase of the 2020 Romanian national selection will take place today, a live final where Roxen will deliver five original songs for the public and experts to choose her entry for Eurovision.

A few days ago, the best Romanian composers took part in a songwriting camp where they wrote songs based on Roxen’s voice type, vocal range and personality. 5 compositions were selected for a national final by songwriters, lyricists, musicologists, tv/radio music-show producers and music directors:

  • Alcohol You (Ionuț Armas, Breyan Isaac and Viky Red)
  • Storm (Minelli and Viky Red)
  • Beautiful Disaster (Alex Cotoi, Julie Frost and Breyan Isaac)
  • Cherry Red (Sebastian Barac, Marcel Botezan, Costel Dominteanu and Theea Miculescu)
  • Colors (Alex Cotoi, Julie Frost and Breyan Isaac)

An equal combination of the voting of a professional jury panel and the audience will determine the song that the Romanian representative will perform in Rotterdam. The expert panel will be made up of Luminiţa Anghel, Crina Mardare, Alin Oprea, Edward Sanda and Andrei Tudor.

The Romanian final will feature very special guest artists, the winner of Eurovision 2012 Loreen, this year’s Cypriot representative Sandro Nicolas, who will premiere his Eurovision entry, the winner of MGP and Norwegian choice Ulrikke, Dora Gaitanovici, and the hosts of the show, Elena Gheorghe (Romania 2009) and Connect-R.

You can watch the Romanian final live at 20.00 CET from the Romanian city of Buzău.

I would love to see Cherry red. I like Alcohol you, but we need something different for Eurovision!
