Tonight: Operación Triunfo kicks off in Spain

The first gala concert of the Spanish talent show Operación Triunfo takes place tonight. 18 candidates will compete to enter the academy and have the chance to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Roberto Leal will host all the shows live from Terrasa (Barcelona).

Once again, the Spanish broadcaster will use Operación Triunfo as the selection method of their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. This time, however, the format will be slightly different as not only the finalists will compete in a special Eurovision phase, but also the candidates that will enter the academy.

About the song selection process, RTVE will keep the right to ask for potential quality entries, together with the OT 2018 Production team and the academy teachers, behind-closed-doors.

  • Marilia (18) – La Palmas de Gran Canaria
  • Marta (18) – Málaga
  • Miki (22) – Terrassa
  • Natalia (19) – Pamplona

A three-person jury panel, made up of Manuel Martos, Joe Pérez-Orive and Ana Torroja, the teachers of the academy and the audience at home will decide the two candidates that won’t go through today’s show.
