RTP has revealed details of Festival da Canção 2019. The Portuguese national broadcaster will follow the same concept as last year in order to choose their representative in Eurovision 2019.
Festival da Canção 2019 will consist of three live shows. Two semi-finals and the grand final, scheduled to take place in February and March 2019. RTP maintains the model adopted in recent years, with the participation of 16 composers: 14 by direct invitation and 2 by submission of proposals. The winner will represent Portugal at ESC 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel, next May.
The 2 candidates will be chosen through the free submission of songs to the contest in the following ways:
• One of them will be selected through the “Master Class” radio program of Antena 1, directed to composers and authors with no published work, until October 31st.
• Composers with or without published work can apply by sending their songs to: [email protected], with the submission limit also marked for October 31st.
