Tonight: Melodifestivalen continues in Sweden with heat 4

Melodifestivalen, the national selection that most fans are waiting for, continues in Sweden tonight!

The fourth heat of Melodifestivalen 2022 will be broadcast live from Stockholm at 20:00 CET. Below you will find all the necessary information regarding tonight’s semi-final. Hosts, artists, running order, backing vocalists and more!

1. Anna Bergendahl – “Higher Power”

Anna became known to the Swedish people when she performed “Have a Heart” during her audition in Idol 2008. The Idol adventure ended with a fifth place and two years later she won Melodifestivalen 2010 with “This Is My Life”. Anna returned to Melodifestivalen in 2019 with “Ashes To Ashes” and finished 10th in the final. In 2020 she came back with “Kingdom Come” and finished 3rd.
Anna about her entry: It is a song that has a bit of darkness in it but still comes with a lot of power. Viewers can expect a very big and powerful feeling of the number and I also hope that I can leave viewers with a sense of hope.

2. Lillasyster – “Till Our Days Are Over”

Lillasyster began their career in 2007 with the album “Hjärndöd musik för en hjärndöd generation”. The band has released 4 albums, toured Sweden and been nominated for several Swedish Grammies for “Best Hard Rock”. They competed in Melodifestivalen last year with “Pretender” where they reached Andra Chansen.
Lillastyre about their song: The song is about winning together. To take your friends with you in the win, not winning alone. When we play live, you can not expect so much finesse, but it is pure and simple energy.

3. Malin Christin – “Synd om dig”
Text & music: Jonathan Lavotha, Oliver Heinänen, Malin Christin   

In the spring of 2020, Malin Christin made her debut as an artist with the song “Salt i såren” together with Myra Granberg. She has previously worked as a songwriter for Swedish and foreign artists in Europe, USA and Asia. Her style since she started her own artist career is described as a situation between modern Swedish pop and alternative R’n’B. In 2020, Malin released the debut single “Lika barn leka bäst”, which was followed by “Vem e du” and “Basic”. In the autumn of 2021, she released her debut EP “Kär i kärleken” and released the single “Nånting fånigt”, performed together with Jakob Karlberg. Malin also co-wrote Malta’s “Je Me Casse” for the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest.
Malin Christin about her song: It’s almost a therapy song for me. It meant a lot to me when I wrote it, and therefore it feels extra fun to be with that particular song. I hope it gets strong and that people feel it as much as I do.

4. Tenori – “La Stella”

The duo Tenori consists of the established tenors Alexander Grove and Kalle Leander. Alexander Grove was born in London. His professional singing career began as a seven-year-old boy at the choir of St Paul’s Cathedral. He has performed over 60 operas and had operatic roles at several of the largest opera houses in Europe. Kalle Leander has studied at the Stockholm Opera Academy, the Malmö Academy of Music and the Falun Conservatory of Music. He has sung in many opera and concert halls in Scandinavia and made concert appearances at the Royal Palace.
Tenori about their song: Our song is an uptempo opera crossover song, with a touch of classic Mello, full of energy, passion and joy – something we all need after this pandemic. Many of us have been in a dark place, and ‘La Stella’ (‘the star’) is about “that someone” who can lift us out of the darkness. We will do everything to give you in the audience a powerful performance. Hopefully it gives you goosebumps and maybe even makes you want to stand up and sing along!

5. MEDINA – “In i dimman”
Text & music: Jimmy “Joker” Thörnfeldt, Sami Rekik, Dino Medanhodzic, Ali Jammali   

The hip-hop duo MEDINA celebrated great success in the 00’s. After 13 years together, they quit, but now, five years later, they are making a comeback. MEDINA has over 200 million streams and has topped the charts with songs such as “Miss Decibel”, “Där palmerna bor” and “Sista minuten”. MEDINA was formed when Ali was in a difficult place after a messy upbringing and Sami had had hopes of a career as a football striker but was injured. They both have a Tunisian background. In heat 2 of this year’s Melodifestivalen, the duo compete as songwriters for LIAMOO’s “Bluffin”. Sami has competed in 2021, in the duo WAHL feat. SAMI with the song “90-talet”, which was eliminated in the competition but then became a hit.
MEDINA about their song: After five years, we sit in the studio and do a song, and it becomes “In i dimman”, and we are part of Melodifestivalen 2022. It is a mixture of Swedish folk music, Latin guitars, singing, trumpets. A real shakshuka, as we call it. It is about being revived and living as if tomorrow does not exist. Viewers can expect an epic, powerful sense of dance, trumpets…

6. Angelino – “The end”
Text & music: Angelino Markenhorn, Julie Aagaard, Melanie Wehbe, Thomas Stengaard  

Angelino Markenhorn released his debut EP “Livingroom Sessions” in the spring of 2021. He has recently released his first international collaboration “With or Without Me” with the artists Lucky Luke and Delaney Jane. Angelino describes his music as his safe zone and believes that he reinforces and conveys his feelings through the music. Sources of inspiration include Freddie Mercury, John Mayer and Frank Ocean.
Angelino about his song: The song means a lot to me. It’s about a period in my life that was very tough, where my whole world was actually turned upside down, but it also culminated in a new beginning. I think many will be able to relate to the text, and because it is so personal, it will be a very intimate moment on stage where I sing straight from the heart.

7. Klara Hammarström – “Run To The Hills”
Text & music: Jimmy “Joker” Thörnfeldt, Julie Aagaard,Anderz Wrethov, Klara Hammarström  

Klara debuted in Melodifestivalen 2020 with her pop song “Nobody”, finishing 5th in her heat. She competed last year with the song “The beat of broken hearts” with which she finished 6th in the final. Klara has been a successful rider and was part of the team that took bronze in the field competition in the pony European Championship 2015. In autumn 2018 she appeared with her parents and nine siblings in the SVT series Familjen Hammarström.
Klara about her song: This year, I plan to hit the big drum. I think many will be shocked that I line up with a song like this. There will probably be many who raise their eyebrows, but I like that. It’s my third year, and now we’re driving! My number this year will be even bigger.

The two acts that get the most votes will advance directly to the Final, while those who finish in the third and fourth places will go through to the semi-final, which will take place on the 5th of March. The results of the Semi-Finals and the Second Chance Show will be decided by 100% televoting.
