Tonight: Georgia selects Junior Eurovision 2019 representative – Watch ‘Ranina’ final

Today Ranina, one of the most ambitious productions by the Georgian public broadcaster GPB, will hold its final with three candidates aiming to represent their nation in Gliwice – Silesia.

The show, which will last approximately one hour, will be hosted by David Aladashvili —a worldwide known pianist, also famous for his participation in different campaigns to promote music among children — and Lela Meburishvili the green room host.

These are tonight’s performers:

  • Anastasia Garsevanishvili
  • Ana Berishvili
  • Giorgi Rostiashvili

In the past weeks, we have seen the ten initial contestants in four different ‘tours,’ performing with different Georgian famous artists. An expert jury headed by David Evgenidze rated their performances on a scale from 1 to 10 in four different categories, with a maximum score of 120 points. At the end of the fourth ‘tour,’ the four scores from each contestant were added up and the five contestants with the most points advanced to the semi-final stage.

A similar system was used for the semi-final stage, which was made up of a single show. The three contestants with the highest score advanced to the final.

While the winner of the final gets to represent their country in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the other two finalists still get a prize! The runner-up of the competition will be Georgia’s spokesperson in the live show and the third-placed contestant will travel to Gliwice – Silesia alongside the rest of the delegation.

Georgia’s debut in Junior Eurovision was in 2007, the year of their Eurovision first participation. A national final determined that Mariam Romelashvili would be in charge of carrying the Georgian flag with ‘Odelia ranuni,’ song that earned her the fourth place in the contest. Since then, they have won the contest three times: in 2008, 2011 and 2016, which means they’re the most successful country until the date.

Last year, Georgia sent the 13-year-old Tamar Edilashvili with ‘Your Voice,’ who had performed with Ethno-Jazz Band Iriao (Eurovision 2018 Georgian representatives) in Ranina. Out of the 20 contestants, she got the eighth place with 144 points.

You will be able to watch the final of Ranina starting at 18:00 CEST (20:00 local time) on our livestream platform live.esc-plus.com.
