Today: Malta premieres MJESC finalist songs – online voting opens

Today PBS will broadcast a special show to premiere the 12 songs that will compete at this year’s Maltese national final for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The videos that will be shown were recorded a few days ago, when an expert panel had the chance to judge the final entries live at Spazju Kreattiv theatre. The public vote will also open today and these performances will help them to decide their favourite.

Malta will choose its 2020 entry following the last year’s selection process. This time, however, candidates were able to send an original song, so the full entry is expected to be chosen at once. From all the submissions received, PBS shortlisted the following songs for the final:

  1. Leah Cauchi – Anġli
  2. Michela Caruana – Replay
  3. Emma Cutajar – Modern Day Cinderella
  4. Mariah Cefai – Change the Silence
  5. Chanel Monseigneur – Chasing Sunsets
  6. Anneka Xerri – Moving
  7. Mychael Bartolo Chircop – The Child From Inside
  8. Yulan Law & Gianluca Cilia – Deck of Cards
  9. Leah Mifsud – Anywhere
  10. Kaya Gouder Curmi – Made of Stars
  11. Isaac Tom – Beside Me
  12. Zaira Mifsud & Eksenia Sammut – Only Live Once

The winner, who will be selected by the combination of votes of a 3-person jury panel and the televoting, will go on to represent Malta on 29th November. The online voting will be open for a week, from today until Saturday 26 at 18.15 CET. The announcement of the 2020 Maltese entry will take place by the end of this month, after the end of the public voting.

Today’s special programme will be hosted by Dorian Cassar and Amber, who will introduce the finalists to the viewers to get them to know better. You can watch it at 18.15 CET on TVM.
