According to ouest–france.fr, France 2 will hold a televised national selection to choose their representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. Earlier this year, the broadcaster announced a call for songs and artists that is still open.
France 2 is reported to have already decided the selection format through which they will select the national representative for Lisbon. The broadcaster will air a total of three shows which will feature 15 participants chosen from all the submissions received.
This brand new national selection format will be made up of two pre-recorded semifinals and a live national final which will be aired in January. The broadcaster has approached the French Canadian singer Garou to host all three episodes.
This year, the French broadcaster wants the audience to take part in the final decision, so a 50/50 mix of public vote and jury panel will select France’s representative for Eurovision 2018. However, the qualifiers will be selected by 100% jury voting in the semifinals.
We will have to wait and see if this information will become a reality. Meanwhile, the French Head of Delegation promises us something awesome:
Guys we are working hard! You are going to love what are preparing this season! 😉

France 2 is determined to go big after the results achieved by Amir and Alma in the last two Eurovision editions. Will they be as successful as previous years in Lisbon?
