In recent years, the Swiss audience selected their entry for Eurovision 7 months before the contest was held. This procedure will be changing for the upcoming Eurovision edition in Denmark. 6 acts will be bidding to represent Switzerland on the 1st of January 2014 through a show organised by all regional TV channels in Switzerland, as usual.
After 2 eliminations in a row with Sinplus and Takasa, what they would love the most is now focusing on qualifying, so they will use this selection process to organise the national final: the German language broadcaster SRF (in cooperation with Romansh broadcaster RTR) will do its best via an online procedure, where anyone can submit a song from limited time between 30th September until 28th October. Then, you will be able to vote for your favourites. A professional jury, will determine 50% of the votes. Finally,a total of nine acts will be picked.
An internal procedure made up by RTS (the francophone broadcaster) and RSI (the Italian language broadcaster) will pick six and three acts to be sent to a professional jury.
These eightteen entries will be judged on several competences. Not only they will be judged on their songs, an important second factor will be the live skills of the performers. This will include vocal capacities and stage performance. In the end, six acts will be chosen for the show at Bodense Arena, in Kreuzlingen: three acts from SRF(/RTR), two acts from RTS and one act from RSI. It makes the total of 6 participants.
The six selected will then perform their entries during the show at the arena. Also a cover of a different song, which they will be choosing, will be performed together with the ESC entry they’re competing.
