Italy has the national final festival that was the inspiration for the Eurovision Song Contest, but Sweden has Melodifestivalen, a very popular national final; let’s not forget that last year’s winner, Loreen, is a two-time winning music product of Melodifestivalen in both 2012 and 2023.
Multiple dates and multiple Swedish cities
Today the dates and cities were announced of the Swedish national final, Melodifestivalen 2024. Just like other years there are multiple dates and multiple cities that will host a section of the Swedish final, which is extra special this year, since Sweden won the latest edition of the contest, and will also be the host country of the upcoming contest, which will take place in Malmö.
The dates and the cities are…
- Heat 1: February 3, Malmö Arena – Malmö
- Heat 2: Feburary 10, Scandinavium – Göteborg
- Heat 3: Feburary 17, Vida Arena – Växjö
- Heat 4: February 24, Stiga Sports Arena – Eskilstuna
- Heat 5: March 2, Löfbergs Arena – Karlstad
- Grand Final: March 9, Friends Arena – Stockholm
Submission window is closed
The song submission period for Melodifestivalen 2024 was from August 25th 2023 until September 15th 2023. So it is closed. No less than 2,624 entries have been submitted, and just 30 of these will get the chance to shine on the Melodifestivalen 2024 stage. On March 9th 2024 upcoming year’s host country will know who will fly their flag in Malmö.
In the contest of 2024 Sweden will immediately perform among the Big 5 countries in the Grand Final, because it is the winner of the latest edition of the contest with Loreen’s song “Tattoo”.
Next year’s Eurovision Song Contest will take place on May 7th, 9th, and 11th 2024 in the Malmö Arena in Sweden.
