Spanish candidates for Eurovision 2019 revealed

Today RTVE has revealed the 18 candidates that will compete at this year’s edition of Operación Triunfo, the talent show that will serve as Spanish national selection for Eurovision 2019. From these initial contenders, 16 of them will participate in the show and will have the right to wave the flag in Tel Aviv.

Once again, the Spanish broadcaster will use Operación Triunfo as the selection method of their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. This time, however, the format will be slightly different as not only the finalists will compete in a special selection phase, but also the candidates that will enter the academy.

About the song selection process, RTVE will keep the right to ask for potential quality entries, together with the OT 2018 Production team and the academy teachers, behind-closed-doors.

The upcoming season of Operación Triunfo kicks off on September 19 with the first show, in which we’ll know the 16 finalists. Roberto Leal will be in charge of the hosting task, while the professional jury panel will be made up of Manuel Martos, Joe Pérez-Orive and Ana Torroja.
