For the last two weeks, people have been voting in Spain’s online #Eurocasting of which there was 30 acts fighting for a chance to go through to the next stage, and ultimately to compete at the Spanish final for Eurovision in 2017. Today the Spanish broadcaster, RTVE, have revealed the 10 act which have made it through from the first stage of #Eurocasting after receiving the highest amount of votes from the on-line public.

You can see the 10 candidates still in the race below:

  • Nieves Hidalgo – Esclava

  • Nicky Triphook – Daddy’s Little Girl
  • Romy Low – In love
  • Pedro Elipe – Del Dolor
  • Leklein – Ouch!!
  • Fruela – Live It Up
  • Javian – No Somos Héroes
  • Brequette – No Enemy

Now it’s up to an expert panel to choose the 3 finalists of #Eurocasting, who will compete in a special concert to be streamed live in the 12th of January. A new on-line voting will be then open again in order to decide who will take part at the Spanish national final “Objetivo Eurovision”.

At the national final, several artists internally selected will compete to represent Spain, something similar to what RTVE did in 2014 and 2016. However, this year, one of the finalists will be chosen externally through #Eurocasting. The other finalists will be selected by the broadcaster among professional singers from the Spanish music industry. By using this format, RTVE wants to give new talents and artists the opportunity to represent their homeland in the biggest European event.

The Spanish representative for Eurovision 2017 will be chosen during a national final that will be held in Madrid by the end of February. The overall winner will be decided by a mix of public televote and professional jury panel.
