RTVSLO has just started their search for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. The broadcaster will select their next representative through their national selection show EMA. All interested singers and composers can send their applications from now until the 15th of November.

Slovenia has launched the search for the act that will try to improve their latest results at the Eurovision Song Contest. Once again, RTVSLO will select their representative through EMA; the televised national selection series aimed to choose the Slovenian representative for Europe’s favourite TV show.

All candidates can send their applications from today until the 15th of November at midnight through the following submission form. National and foreign composers are allowed to submit their songs for the Slovenian competition following the rules of the Eurovision Song Contest. RTVSLO is asking applicants to send their songs in Slovenian version and in the version they intend to perform at Eurovision. The Slovenian broadcaster has also announced that they will approach established acts and songwriters to compete at EMA 2018 independently of this selection process.

After the submission period is closed, an expert panel will select a number of candidates that will compete at the Slovenian national selection shows. The announcement of Slovenian contenders will take place no later than December 8th, 2017. RTVSLO will reveal more details of the next year’s EMA by the end of the year.

You can find the set of rules published by the Slovenian broadcaster here.

Slovenia hasn’t reached the final of the Eurovision Song Contest since 2015. Last year Omar Naber represented his country for the second time with the power ballad “On My Way”, but he only managed to reach the 17th place at the Semi-Final:
