EBU and RTP have just revealed the visual identity and slogan for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. The presentation has taken place during a press conference held in Lisbon, the host city of the 2018 competition.
Jon Ola Sand, the EBU’s Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, said: “We are extremely happy with the creative theme and logos for this year’s contest, which resonate with Lisbon’s history and underscore Eurovision’s core values, including diversity, very well. The Ocean connects all of us, and its variety can provide good inspiration for each of the 42 participating broadcasters that we look forward to seeing in Lisbon next May.”
All Abroad!, the 2018 slogan:
The slogan for the competition will be ALL ABOARD! and it will be used along with the visual identity to promote the next year’s edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. RTP has been inspired by Europe as collective of many countries and cultures, so, not only the contest will have one logo, but it will also have several ones inspired by the ocean and its wildlife. The main logo featuring a shell comes with other twelve variations, which show the underwater life in the oceans, such as plankton and other organisms which are essential for balance in aquatic ecosystems.
Gonçalo Madaíl, Creative Manager of RTP said: “For centuries, Portugal explored the world by sea. Today, Lisbon is more and more the city of all colors, a great harbour of cultures and sounds that welcomes you all to come aboard!”
The 63rd edition of Europe’s favourite TV show will take place on May 8, 10 and 12 May in Lisbon, Portugal. The Lusitanian country will host the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time ever following Salvador Sobral‘s victory in Kyiv. Altice Arena, located in the host area of Expo ’98, will be the venue of the competition.
