Portugal: Hot favourite Diogo Piçarra withdraws from Festival Da Canção 2018

The hot favourite to win Festival Da Canção 2018 has withdrawn from the national final after accusations of plagiarism. People had detected that Diogo Piçarra’s song ‘Canção do Fim’ was similar to Pastor Walter’s ‘Abre Os Meus Olhos’.

Diogo Piçarra had won the last Semi-Final of the Portuguese national selection and was the hot favourite to win the competition. RTP has declared that they respect and understand the singer’s decision, and they have revealed that Susana Travassos with the song ‘Mensageira’ will replace Diogo in the final.

So, the running order for the final looks as it follows:

  1. Sem medo – Rui David
  2. Mensageira – Susana Travassos
  3. Sunset – Peter Serrado
  4. Zero a zero – Joana Espadinha
  5. O voo das cegonhas – Lili
  6. Para sorrir eu não preciso de nada – Catarina Miranda
  7. Anda estragar-me os planos – Joana Barra Vaz
  8. Amor veloz – David Pessoa
  9. Patati patata – Minnie & Rhayra
  10. (sem título) – Janeiro
  11. Bandeira azul – Maria Inês Paris
  12. Para te dar abrigo – Anabela
  13. O jardim – Cláudia Pascoal
  14. Só por ela – Peu Madureira

The Grand Final of Festival Da Canção 2018 will be held on Sunday 4th March in Guimarães’ Multiusos.
