The Portuguese national broadcaster, RTP, has announced the date of the national final songs reveal of “Festival da Canção 2023”.
Festival da Canção 2023
There will be 20 acts competing to represent Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool (United Kingdom); the artists were made public some weeks ago, and tomorrow, on January 19th 2023 at 12:30 CET, the competing songs of these artists will be revealed. The reveals will be broadcast live on the official Instagram profile of Festival da Canção 2023. After the show, the lyric videos can be watched on YouTube. During the whole live show all the further information about the Portuguese national final of 2023 will be revealed.

The format
The format of Festival da Canção 2023 knows a divide between chosen composers and entries chosen by the public.
Chosen composers by RTP
Festival da Canção 2023 saw 20 composers entering this Portuguese format of which 16 were invited by the Portuguese national broadcaster (RTP) directly. One of the composers had to decline because of personal reasons, leaving 15 to battle it out on the stage of the Portuguese national final. The composers can choose whether to be on-stage themselves or to choose another artist to sing their song.
Acts chosen by the public
Next to the composers’ entries, there were 5 acts chosen by the public, and this year around there were a great many songs submitted, no less than 667, to be exact.

Eurovision 2022
In the contest of 2022 Maro entered the Eurovision stage for Portugal with the soothing song “Saudade, saudade”; she ended in 4th place in Semi-final 1, and in the Grand final of 2022 she came in 9th (of 25).
