Melodi Grand Prix returns to Norway! Tonight the first show of this year’s MGP took place with four acts competing to win a ticket for the grand final. Frode Vessel won today’s first semi-final with the song “Black Flowers“ and will be able to take part in the final show scheduled on February 19.
These were the four candidates who have participated at today’s first semi-final of Melodi Grand Prix 2022 paired in two duels:
- Duel 1: Mira Craig- “We Still Here” Vs Eline Noelia– “Ecstasy”
- Duel 2: Trollfest- “Dance Like a Pink Flamingo” Vs Frode Vessel– “Black Flowers”
Later the two winners, one from each duel, faced in a final gold duel where the public chose the best duelist and winner of the ticket for the grand final.
The three non-qualifiers still have a chance of performing at the grand final, as the public will also choose an additional qualifier from all the non-qualified semi-finalists. A voting period will be opened on Monday 7 February, after the last semi-final, and the four participants with more votes will compete in a second chance show for the last place for the Melodi Grand Prix 2022 grand final on February 12.

Next Saturday, January 22, the second semi-final will take place featuring the following artists:
- Lily Löwe- “Bad Baby”
- Steffen Jakobsen- “With Me Tonight”
- Farida- “Dangerous”
- Daniel Lukas- “Kvelertak”
All shows are being broadcast live from the H3 Arena in Fornebu, just outside the Norwegian capital Oslo. Although the initial plan of NRK was to celebrate the spectacle with audience, the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic forced them to change their initial idea and no audience is attending this year’s competition for a second year in a row.
