Eurovision Eurovision 2016 Moldova

Moldova: TRM confirms and starts asking for submissions!

Moldova and its public broadcaster TRM, one of the last few countries who missed out to confirm its participation for Stockholm 2016, has just done it and plus having set the method they will be following to pick the act representing them in Sweden.

”O Melodie Pentru Europa” will be divided intro televised three stages:

  • 23/02: Semi-final 1 (12 competitors, 8 qualifiers)
  • 25/02: Semi-final 2 (12 competitors, 8 qualifiers)
  • 27/02: Grand Final (16 finalists)

The acts making it through from each semifinal will be decided following this: 7 acts decided by a 50/50 televote-jury vote and 1 final act decided 100% by televote. Then, the outcome in the grand final will determined 50/50 by the combination of the votes from the jury panel and the Moldovan audience. A remarkable update on this year’s regulations is thay any act (except songwriters, who can still come from abroad) involved should own Moldovan citizenship.

Whoever wants to apply for the selection has until the 7 December at 17:00 local time to submit an entry to TRM. A full list regulations and details about O Melodie Pentru Europa 2016 can be found by clicking HERE (in Romanian language).

After the deadline has passed, TRM will shortlist all received acts to 50 to compete in the live auditions on the 19 December, which will be broadcast online. Then, it will be up to the jury to pick which 24 acts qualify to the TV shows on the 23 and 25 February.

Last year, Eduard Romanyuta ranked 11th in the first semi-final out of 17 without chances to perform again its song ”I Want Your Love”; will they be luckier in 2016? Stay tuned for more updates on Moldova’s participation at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.
