What’s New in MESC 2025?
This year, MESC introduces exciting changes! The number of finalists has been streamlined from 36 to 24, while the semifinals are reduced from several televised shows to two semifinals and one grand final with live audience in a big arena, making the competition more intense than ever and replicating the same structure as in 2023. PBS has ensured a transparent selection process where only the highest-scoring song per artist advances to the semifinals even if they have submitted several songs. Some questions remain still unresolved as wether the jury will consist on national Maltese and international jury, and the weight of jury vs televote votes to determine the final result on the night of 8th of February,
A true Maltese festa for all the Eurofans
Prepare for an unforgettable experience as the MESC 2025 stage comes to life with its iconic LED-lit platform and fan-favorite green room. The high-energy performances, cutting-edge visuals, and immersive atmosphere ensure that every Eurovision lover will be on the edge of their seat.
In the grand final, which will air on February 8 on TVM 1, the 16 finalists must perform their entries live. While vocal backing tracks are allowed during the performance, the lead vocalist is required to sing live. Harmonies, however, can be either live or pre-recorded, as long as they comply with the requirements set by the Maltese broadcaster.
The grand finale will crown Malta’s next Eurovision star through a combined vote from a panel of experts and the audience at home. Beyond the title, the winner will receive a special trophy, while the top three entries will also be honoured for their remarkable efforts.
The Road Ahead
The winner of MESC 2025 will carry Malta’s flag to Eurovision in Basel which will be held next May 13, 15, and 17, aiming to leave a lasting impression on the global stage.
