Malta: Two X-Factor 2020 contestants eliminated – 10 candidates left

A few minutes ago the first live show of X-Factor Malta has taken place. Two candidates were eliminated while ten hopefuls remain in the race to wave the country’s flag at Eurovision 2020.

After several weeks of auditions and pre-recorded broadcasts, the X-Factor live shows kicked off today at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre.

The candidates were divided into four groups, each of which assigned to a jury member:

  • Girls (Ira Losco): Justine Shorfid, Destiny Chukunyere and Jasmine Abela
  • Boys (Ray Mercieca): Kyle Cutajar, Karl Schembri and Dav. Jr.
  • Over 25s (Alexandra Alden): Ed Abdilla, Celine Agius and Paul Anthony
  • Groups (Howard Keith Debono): Yazmin and James, FAITH and Bloodline

At the first show,  the 9 most voted acts qualified for the next week’s show after the first voting round: Justine Shorfid, Destiny Chukunyere, Jasmine Abela, Kyle Cutajar, Karl Schembri and Dav. Jr., Yazmin and James, FAITH and Bloodline.

Then, it was announced that the act with the least amount of votes was Ed Abdilla, so he was automatically eliminated. A sing-off between Celine Agius and Paul Anthony later determined the last qualifier. This decision was up to the jury panel, which eliminated Paul Anthony. That means Celine Agius made it through to the next show of X-Factor Malta.

You can watch all the performances on their official YouTube channel.
