The national Maltese broadcaster, TVM, has announced that hot favourite to win MESC 2023, Aidan, with the song “Regina”, has been disqualified, so he will not be taking part in the national final of Malta this year.
Disqualification for Aidan
The reason for the disqualification of Aidan is unknown, the national broadcaster of Malta, TVM, does state the following about the disqualification:
“PBS has been notified by the Malta Eurovision Song Contest production team that Aidan Cassar has been disqualified from continuing to participate in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2023 following a breach of the Festival Regulations.“

MESC 2023
Aidan already competed in the first Quarterfinal of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2023 (MESC 2023) on January 14th 2023 with his song “Regina”.
