The Final of Supernova 2018 on 24th February will feature a magnificent seven acts rather than six as planned – following a problem with the online voting in Saturday’s Second Semi-Final.
Markus Riva, singing ‘This Time’ – one of the hot favourites to win the competition – is the beneficiary of this change of plan, just when he thought his ESC dream was over! Apparently the wrong picture appeared beside one of the online voting links on Saturday, so the decision has now been taken to scrap the online votes and remove them from the final scores.
In the name of fairness, then, Latvijas Televizija have announced that three acts have qualified from the Second Semi-Final: Madara, Ritvars and Markus. They’ll be joined in the Final by the two qualifiers from the First Semi-Final – Edgars Kreilis and Liene Greifane – and the two who make it through the third and last Semi-Final this coming Saturday.
So will seven be Latvia’s lucky number this year? Tune in to the remaining rounds of Supernova 2018 with us here at ESCplus!
