Latvia 2023: The 15 acts of Latvia’s national final revealed

Today the Latvian broadcaster, LTV, announced its 15 acts that will compete in Latvia’s national final, called “Supernova 2023”.

It will be the eight time that the Latvian national final, called “Supernova 2023”, will be held to determine who is going to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest.

The format

The format of Supernova 2023 will consist of 1 Semi-final and 1 Grand Final. In both parts a mix of jury and public votes will determine who progresses and eventually wins the ticket to go to Liverpool (United Kingdom).

  • Semi-final: February 4th 2023
  • Grand Final: February 11th 2023

Two hosts

The contest will be presented by two hosts, which are: Ketija Šēnberga and Lauris Reiniks. Reiniks represented Latvia with the group F.L.Y. in the Eurovision Song Contest of 2003 when Latvia itself was the host country, with the song “Hello From Mars”.

15 competing acts

Below you can find a list of the 15 acts that will compete in the Latvian national final. There were 121 song submissions; these were listened to by a jury that was selected by the national broadcaster of Latvia, LTV. In this jury there were Latvian music connoisseurs, but also national professionals of the events and television industry, but also international experts.

Familiar name

Singer Justs represented Latvia before in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm (Sweden) with the song “Heartbeat”. He ended in 8th place in Semi-final 2, and in the Grand Final in 15th position (of 26).

Eurovision 2022

In the Eurovision Song Contest of 2022 the band Citi Zēni took part for Latvia with the song “Eat Your Salad”. In Semi-final 1 these guys ended in 14th position, thus not making it into the Grand Final.
