Junior Eurovision: Opening Ceremony takes place today!

The singers from all 17 this year’s Junior Eurovision participating countries have already gathered in Valletta and are currently on recordings for the common song that they will sing on stage as part of the interval act. Apart from this, several events ahead of the contest, such as meetings, activities around the island and rehearsals or press conferences will take place throughout the week.

One of this events is the opening ceremony including the red carpet that will be held this evening live from Valletta’s Manoel Theatre where the reception will be made by PBS and EBU directors in conjuction, just to say everyone welcome to this year’s edition of the contest. During the welcome reception, the allocation draw will take place which, organized by the Host Broadcaster in the presence of the EBU Executive Supervisor Jon Ola Sand, shall determine which countries shall perform in the first and the second part of the Show, the place of the Host Broadcaster’s Contestant in the running order as well as whose Contestant shall perform in the first and the last position in the Show. The final running order with exact positions will be decided by the producers of the show to ensure an enjoyable show and fast transitions between performances.

The Opening Ceremony will be hosted by Taryn Mamo Cefai, a Maltese actress which will see this as her first major event. Larissa Bonaci will welcome the contestants to the official Red Carpet prior to it.
