Junior Eurovision: Online voting details revealed

EBU has revealed more details about the brand new online voting that will decide half of the outcome of this year’s Junior Eurovision. This system will let fans vote for their own country, while people worldwide will be able to vote in a Eurovision event for the first time.

The new voting method will have two different rounds:

  • First phase: The audience will be able to vote from Friday 24 until Sunday 26 when the show starts, at 15.59 CET. They will be required to watch a recap of the songs taking part before entering the voting platform that will be available on the JESC official website. After watching the recap, voters will also have the option to watch 1-minute clips from each participant’s rehearsal. People will be able to vote for 3, 4 or 5 of their favourites.
  • Second phase: After the last performance of the live show, the voting will be open again for 15 min.

A combination of both rounds of voting will decide 50% of the final outcome, while the other half will be decided by a professional jury panel in each country made up of adults and kids.

What do you think about the new online voting? Do you think it is fair that people can vote for their own country?
