Italy: Meet the participants of Sanremo 2021

Sanremo 2021 artistic director Amadeus has revealed the acts that will compete at the upcoming edition of the Italian music festival (Campioni). The announcement has taken place at the special show AmaSanRemo, final of Sanremo Giovanni, whose winner will join the line-up of Campioni in March.

Once again, Sanremo will select the Italian entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest. Artists and their labels must confirm RAI if they want to participate in Rotterdam before the first night. In order to do this, they’ll be required to fill in a form and submit it to the Italian broadcaster before the festival. So, if the winner doesn’t submit the form, RAI will internally select the Italian entry from the other participants.

Amadeus chose the 20 initial songs without knowing the identity of the singer(s) thinking of tracks that could be successful. Moreover, the winner of today’s Giovanni final will join the line-up. An additional finalist will be selected from Nuove Proposte, the contest that will take place in paralel with Sanremo next March.

As in previous years, we can find some former participants in the line-up, but not Diodato, the 2020 winner, who had already announced he wouldn’t be taking part:
