Yesterday, October 31st 2023, the Israeli talent show “The Next Star” was supposed to be broadcast on TV in Israel, but it was not. The reason for this is the ongoing war in the country. The shows winner will become the next entrant of war-stricken Israel.

TV talent show “The Next Star”, also known as “HaKokhav HaBa” was not broadcast yesterday in Israel, because of the war that is raging in this country. The specific reason for the show being pulled last night is the death of two Israeli soldiers. Broadcaster Keshet 12 is also criticized for starting a televised talent show while there is a war going on in the country.
The Next Star TV format was used to find the next entrants for the Eurovision Song Contest between 2015 and 2020. The show resulted in a Grand Final placing of Israel between in the years this format was used; it even resulted in Israel’s win in 2018 when Netta took the stage with the song “Toy” in Lisbon (Portugal).
