Azerbaijan 2024: There have been live auditions!

On October 29th 2023 there have been live auditions to determine who progresses to the next phase of the Azerbaijani selection. 16 Artists took the stage in the hope of becoming Azerbaijan’s next representative. These auditions took place in the capitel of Azerbijan, Baku.

The live auditions

The national Azerbaijani broadcaster, Ictimai, held live auditions on October 29th 2023 as the first step towards finding the country’s entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö (Sweden). No less than 15 artists performed in front of a professional jury in a studio in the Azerbaijani capital city, Baku.

Among the jury members of these live auditions were Aysel, who finished 3rd in the contest of 2009 in Moscow (Russia), together with Arash, singing the song “Always”, and Eldar and Nikki were also present, they won the contest in 2011 with the song “Running Scared”.

Azerbaijani Eurovision outlet, 12 Xal, reported that among the performing artists yesterday were known and unknown Eurovision artists from Azerbaijan, find the list below.

Eurovision 2023

In the Eurovision Song Contest of 2023 in Liverpool (UK) Azerbaijan was represented by the twins of TuralTuranX with the song “Tell Me More”. They did not make it into the Grand Final, ending 14th (of 15) in Semi-final 1; this event marked the first time Azerbaijan was in the Grand Final since 2018.
