ESC+Plus has had the honour to talk with Tina Stachowiak and René Machon, participants of the Danish national selection for Eurovision 2015 “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix”.

The duet will sing the song “Mi Amore” in the final set on February 7.

ESC+Plus: Hello guys! First of all congratulations on having been selected to compete at DMGP 2015!

Thank you very much 🙂

E+: Can you tell us about you, your musical evolution and important achievements?

We are Tina Stachowiak and rené Machon and together we form the duo “Tina and René”.

René is 40 years old and has been working with music for 20 years. He lives in a town called Valby with his girlfriend, 3 sons, and a bonus son.  He is the lead singer in a popular cover band in Denmark called Cruise and he is writing and producing songs.

Tina is 29 years old and lives in Copenhagen with her boyfriend. Tina has been Singing and writing music since she was very young. She released her first single called “Price To Pay” in 2012 which became very popular in China. She has also written a title song for the Danish TV-Show “Big Brother” together with René Dif from Aqua. Besides music she has her own blog ww.tinasmusic.dk were she is writing about her experiences as a singer and she will also be sharing pictures from Grand Prix.

E+: Why did you decide to take part as a duet at DMGP 2015?

We decided to take part in it because we think that participating in Melodi Grandprix is a great opportunity to show the whole of Denmark (and Europe) our talent and music. We both really love to sing and write music so this is something we couldn’t say no to.

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Denmark in Vienna?

It would mean everything. It would be the biggest honor for us and a dream coming true to represent Denmark at the world greatest song contest

E+: You will sing the song “Mi amore”. Can you tell us about the song and the story behind the lyrics?

“Mi Amore” is a powerballad. It is about forgiveness and about telling the person you love how you really feel and how much you adore that person. We think that the lyrics is something everyone can relate to if they have been trough hard times in a relationship. It is the ultimate love song.

E+: How are you preparing your performance at DMGP? Can you reveal us anything about it?

We can´t reveal so much at this point but what we can say is that it will include a lot of confetti and silver hearts on the stage 🙂 and 4 amazing backup singers. The show is going to be one big celebration. Tina is going to wear an amazing dress and she can´t wait to reveal it . You’ll have to watch it next Saturday.

E+: What are your main strengths to as to get the people support to reach Eurovision?

First of all we think that “Mi Amore” is a great and catchy song and it is a perfect  for Grand Prix. We are both really passionate about music and we have a great chemistry on stage when we are singing together. We hope that this will shine through to the audience. And we also have a really experienced team behind us. The song is written by Thomas G:son and Henrik Sethsson. G:son also wrote Euphoria who won Eurovision in 2012. Some people have compared our song “Mi Amore” with the sound of Abba and we are proud of that.

It was a true pleasure to work with G:son and Henrik Sethsson. We flew to Stockholm to record the song at their studio and there we met them for the first time. They are both really sweet and down to-earth guys doing what they love to do: write music. They are funny as well and we had the best time in the studio when we recorded the song.

E+: What can this competition contribute to your musical careers?

We hope that participating in Grand Prix will be the start of something bigger for our music careers both individually and as a duo. No matter what happens we will both continue with doing music after MGP because this is what we love to do. We are already in the studio preparing new songs.

E+: Do you have any favorite song among the other DMGP finalists?

The line up is very good this year but we don’t have one in particular. We are focusing on our own performance and we are so excited about our song “Mi Amore” We meet all the other contestants this monday at the press meeting and they are all very sweet and great people.

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? Do you have any favorite song in the history of the contest?

We have both watched it since we were kids so if we win melodi grandprix it will be a dream coming true and an honour for us to sing at Eurovision. One song that  I (Tina) really love is actually Euphoria. I will never get tired of that song. Always puts me in a good mood when I listen to it.

E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?

Right now our main focus is on Eurovision but we will definitely be releasing more music after this. We are both in the studio writing and recording new songs individually as well as together as a duo. We are very excited to see what the future will bring.

E+: What is your favourite music style? And your favourite singer?

René: My favorite still of music is pop. I love to listen to artists such as John Mayer, Sting and Bruno Mars. It’s impossible to name only one artist.

Tina: I really like pop and soul music. I grew up listening to big singers such as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Beyonce. They all inspire me with their amazing voices. I’m also a big fan of swedish pop singer Robyn.

E+: Finally, would you like to send a message for our readers?
