From the heart of the Dutch capital, where Eurovision artists are gathering ahead of the big night in Malmö, we caught up with one of the most heartfelt voices of this year’s contest: Louane, representing France.
Beaming with quiet excitement, Louane shared how much this moment means to her: “I’m really happy. It’s the first time I get to meet all the other artists. It’s great. And I can’t wait to perform tonight,” she told us at the start of our chat.
A deeply personal story with a universal message
Her entry is far from a typical Eurovision song. It’s a poignant tribute to two of the most important women in her life: her late mother and her young daughter. “My mom passed away, and the song is about the bond between being a daughter and becoming a mother. My daughter sings at the end of the song, which makes it even more special.”
Louane doesn’t hide the emotion behind the lyrics: “The message is about that link that passes from generation to generation. It’s very personal, but at the same time, I hope it’s universal — something people can connect with.”
From fear to fireworks: the arena reveal
France made a bold move by revealing Louane’s song with a full arena showcase — fireworks included. It was unforgettable, but also intense:
“It was terrifying, honestly. I was completely scared, but it was incredible. It was a choice made by the delegation, and when they told me, I was so happy.”
Eurovision, a gift for her mother… and daughter
What would it mean for Louane to win the contest? Her answer comes from the heart:
“It would be the best present I could ever give to my mother. And also to my daughter — she would be so proud of me. It’s something very special.”
A proud voice for French music
Louane stays true to her roots by singing in French, and she takes pride in her country’s musical legacy:
“I love everything by French artists. But if I had to name one, it would be Barbara. She passed away a long time ago, but to me, she’s one of the most incredible songwriters and singers France has ever had.”
And just to clarify — she laughs and adds: “I mean Barbara, not Barbara Pravi. I love Barbara Pravi too — she’s a friend and I adore her songs. But they’re two different artists! Just making sure no one thinks Barbara Pravi passed away!”
A real connection with the audience
Louane arrives at Eurovision with an entry that is honest, emotional, and deeply human. She’s not just representing France — she’s telling her story. And in doing so, she’s touching hearts across Europe and beyond.
