Elene Mikiashvili: “My song is about a girl who is always fighting for success and never gives up” (Georgian finalist – Interview)

ESC+Plus has talked to Elene Mikiashvili, finalist of this year’s Georgian national selection for Eurovision. Elene will perform “Fighter”, composed by Ylva & Linda Persson and Will Taylor, in the Georgian final set to take place on January 20th.

ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Georgian national selection for Eurovision 2017!

Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?

Elene Mikiashvili: I am 19 years old and I sing since I was 7. When I won my first competition I was super happy, so I have never stopped singing since then. I have studied at music schools and my first TV appearance was in The Voice, where I got great results and gained self confidence, I am self-confident now.

ESC+Plus: What impelled you to take part in the Georgian final for Eurovision 2017?

Elene Mikiashvili: My composers showed me this great song and I agreed to compete. People around me also wanted me to represent Georgia.

ESC+Plus: How did you feel when you knew you had qualified for the final? Did you expect it?

Elene Mikiashvili: I was very very happy and felt a big responsibility.

ESC+Plus: What would it mean to you to represent Georgia?

Elene Mikiashvili: It would be my top success. I promise people that I would do my best to represent my country as it deserves.

ESC+Plus: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?

Elene Mikiashvili: This song is my life. It’s about a girl who is always fighting for success and she never gives up, as me. All of my life I have been a fighter trying to be strong.

It’s a message for all people and especially for girls to never give up on their dreams.

ESC+Plus: Why do you think your song has to be selected for Kiev? What are you strengths to reach the top in the competition?

Elene Mikiashvili: I think the reason why my song has to be chosen is very simple, just because this song is super!

ESC+Plus: Can you tell us anything about your stage performance?

Elene Mikiashvili: I am planning to have great show with dancers and I will dance too.

ESC+Plus: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What is your favorite song in the history of the competition?

Elene Mikiashvili: Yes, Eurovision is my favourite competition and my favourite entries are “Warrior”, “A monster like me” and “Euphoria”.

ESC+Plus: If you could choose a Eurovision former participant to sing along with, who would it be?

Elene Mikiashvili: It would be Conchita.

ESC+Plus: Finally, can you send a message for our readers and Eurovision fans?

Elene Mikiashvili: I want to wish them a happy and successful life and Never ever give up. Thanks a lot.
