Iceland 2024: These are the entrants of the national final!

On January 27th 2024 the line-up of the Icelandic national final, Söngvakeppnin 2024, was revealed by the Icelandic national broadcaster, RÚV. 10 Acts have been chosen out of 118 song submissions.

The 10 acts that are going to battle it out to represent Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö (Sweden) are announced. Söngvakeppnin 2024 will have two semi-finals and one grand final, in the latter Iceland’s next representative will be chosen.

Are there any well-known Eurovision names in the Iceland national final?

Yes, there is one well-known Eurovision name in the Icelandic national final, it is Hera Björk, who competed in the contest of 2010 with the song “Je ne sais quoi”. Hera ended in 3rd place (of 11) in Semi-final 1, and eventually she took 19th place (of 25) in the Grand Final.

What is the set-up of Söngvakeppnin 2024?

The set-up of Söngvakeppnin 2024 is the following: There will be three televised live shows; two semi-finals and one grand final. In each of the two semi-finals five acts will compete, all acts will sing in the Icelandic language. The two highest ranking acts will move on to the grand final. Of the contestants that did not make it into the grand final, the producers of the show get the chance to choose a wildcard, but it is also possible they do not. In the grand final all entrants must sing in the language they might perform in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
