Today France announced that they have found their representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö (Sweden), and it is no less than singer and rapper, Slimane. The song Slimane will sing in the contest, called “Mon amour”, will be presented tonight during the 20:00 news on TV station France 2.
Popular French artist, Slimane, is internally selected by France Télévisions to represent France in the upcoming contest in Sweden. The news was revealed today (08-11-2023) by the French Head of Delegation, Alexandra Redde-Amiel, on Frence Inter Radio.
Slimane, who’s full name is Slimane Nebchi, is an Algerian singer, who was born in Chelles, which is part of the Paris region of France. In 2009 Slimane started uploading covers of well-known songs on YouTube, but he really came in the spotlights in 2016 when he competed and won the “The Voice: France” (In France the name of the show is “The Voice: La plus belle voix). After his win Slimane released his debut album, “À bout de rêves” (trans. “At the end of dreams”), which made it to certified double platinum in France, and the same can be said about his next three films that followed.

In the Eurovision Song Contest of 2023 France was represented by La Zarra with the song “Évidemment”. France does not have to compete in the Semi-finals, because it is one of the Big Five countries, so in the 2023 Grand Final La Zarra came in 16th (of 26), which was a fairly disappointing placing for France, which was seen as one of the hot favourites to do well in the contest this year.
