The Ukrainian national broadcaster
The Ukrainian national broadcaster, Suspilne, announced today that it will broadcast the Semi-final Allocation Draw and the Handover Ceremony of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 live from their organization partner Liverpool in the United Kingdom. The event will be broadcast on the TV channel “Suspilne Kultura” and on social media. The event will be commentated on by TV presenter Timur Miroshnychenko.
The Chairman of the Board of Suspilne, Mykola Chernotytskyi , but also the Head of the Ukrainian Delegation, Oksana Skybinska, will be present in Liverpool during the event.
Semi-final Allocation Draw
The Semi-final Allocation Draw will take place on January 31st 2023 at 20:00 CET. The draw will be hosted by two presenters, AJ Odudu (TV presenter) and Rylan (Commentator of the Eurovision Song Contest since 2018). They will also get help from local Liverpool people, like scholars from a school in Liverpool and people from the Ukrainian community of Liverpool.
The draw consists of two parts. The first part of the draw is all about in which Semi-final each of the 6 pre-qualified countries will be able to vote in, and which one they are going to broadcast. The second part is all about how the other 31 participating countries of the 2023 contest are going to be divided; they are going to draw to know in which of the two Semi-finals they are going to perform and in which half of that particular Semi-final. The specific starting place will be decided by the producers of the contest, so that, i.e. not 3 ballads will take the stage.
Handover Ceremony
This ceremony will see the city of Liverpool add their insignia to the rest of the insignia of other Eurovision years. This ceremony will see the Mayor of Liverpool, Joanne Anderson, and the Mayor of last year’s host city, Turin, Stefano Lo Russo.
