Eurovision 2017 bidding race kicks off in Ukraine, preliminary dates changed!

Today, National television company of Ukraine (NTU) has announced that search of the host city for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 has started.  After Jamala’s victory in Stockholm, several cities have shown interest in hosting the annual contest and they will have until July 8 to convince their capability of providing the best arena, as well as the wide range of hotels and transportation quality required for the organisation according to the demanded criteria.

Until the 15th of July all bids will be analysed and later, from July 15 to 18, presented to the Local Organisation Committee. As a result, only the bids of two of the candidate cities will be handed over to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The final decision will be made from July 22 to August 1 followed by the official announcement of the host city of Eurovision 2017.

As soon as the host city is revealed, the dates for next year’s contest will also be also confirmed. Moreover, it has been announced today that preliminary dates of the next year’s Eurovision Song Contest have been changed to 9 May (First Semi-Final), 11 May (Second Semi-Final), and 13 May (Grand Final) 2017.

Ukraine already has experience in hosting Eurovision events as the country hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest twice, back in 2009 and 2013. All the previous contests held in Ukraine have taken place in the capital, will we come back to Kiev in 2017?
