Eurovision 2015: Opening Reception today!

The Eurovision Song Contest 2015 has already started. From this Monday on, the countries fighting for a spot in the grand final have been rehearsing their entries for the first time in the arena, Wiener Stadthalle. On Friday and Saturday they made their second appearance and ready to shine on the red carpet today.

This is what the Eurovision fan community, the host broadcaster and the EBU call the ”opening ceremony/reception” and this year takes place from Vienna’s City Hall, located in Rathausplatz.

The Red Carpet will be opened by Conchita Wurst at 18.00. Last year’s host country of Denmark will be the first nation on the Red Carpet. Then, they all will be entering the city hall for the official reception by Vienna’s Mayor.

After the Red Carpet is completed, the EuroClub in the Ottakringer Brewery will open its doors for you with the “Welcome to Austria” party starting at 20.00. At 21.00, the Opening Reception in the City Hall will be finished and the artists and the delegates will join the press and fans at the Euroclub.  Some of them will also go on stage to perform, as for instance Edurne from Spain, who will perform Amanecer.

The whole Red Carpet will be broadcast live at Eurovision.tv with a commentary in English. ORF has a live program from 18.30 till 19.15 on ORFeins and a “best of” with the morning performance in the State Opera and highlights of the Opening Ceremony at 22.10 on ORFeins.
