Eurovision Eurovision 2016 Greece

“Europond” to represent Greece as “Argo”!

Yesterday, OGAE Greece leaked some information about the internally selected band for Eurovision. ERT has now officially confirmed that the band “Argo” will be waving the Greek flag in Stockholm!

The band “Argo” is formed by six members, Christina Lachana (lead singer), Maria Venetikidou (backing vocalist), Vladimiros Sofianidis (vocalist), Kostas Topouzis (Pontian lira), Ilias Kesidis (vocalist and percussion) and Alekos Papadopoulos (tabor), and it is basically the renewed version of “Europond”. ERT hasn’t revealed the reason of the change name, only that the song they will be performing at Eurovision will be released soon.

The Greek song for Stockholm is reported to be an ethnic composition, very happy and energetic, showing Greece’s bright side, but also referring to the economic crisis and the refugees’ situation. It is also rumoured that it will be performed in Pontic Greek.
