About Heimilistónar:
Heimilistónar is an Icelandic woman’s band formed in the National Theatre of Iceland in the year 1997.
The band members are all actresses who love playing in the band when they have the time, which is less often than they would like. Throughout these 22 years, the band has taken old international standards and made them their own with Icelandic lyrics. In recent years, they have done more of their own compositions.
The band participated in the Icelandic singing competition in 2018 and got 3rd place with the song Kúst og fæjó. The song, which became quite popular in Iceland during the Icelandic competition, is about how important it is to have friends…and to dust and clean the house when they come visiting.
After the Icelandic Eurovision contest, the band has appeared widely in Iceland, made Christmas sit-com for the National Television in Iceland and is now planning a Christmas CD with original Icelandic music.
