From Malta we head to the Big Five nation of Spain. Spain is represented by Edurne at this years contest in Vienna with the song “Amanecer”.

Spain debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 with Conchita Bautista and her song “Estando contingo”, it finished in 9th place with a total of 8 points. Spain went on to win the contest in 1968 and 1969, Spain’s win in 1969 was a four way tie for first between the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France and Spain. The last time Spain finished in the top.3 was back in 1995 with Anabel Conde with “Vuelve Conmigo” which finished in 2nd place with 119 points.

On the Eurojury for Spain today is their 2011 participant, Lucía Pérez. In Dusseldorf Lucía performed the upbeat song “Que me quiten lo bailao” which finished in 23rd place with a total of 50 points, the song received 12 points from Portugal and France.

Here are the results of the Spanish jury:

  • Sweden – 12 points
  • Australia – 10 points
  • Russia – 8 points
  • Austria – 7 points
  • Estonia – 6 points
  • Ireland – 5 points
  • Italy – 4 points
  • Azerbaijan – 3 points
  • Slovenia – 2 points
  • Lithuania – 1 point

After those points this leaves the top.5 as:

  1. Australia – 183 points
  2. Italy – 146 points
  3. Sweden – 146 points
  4. Russia – 104 points
  5. Albania – 84 points
