Chefsache ESC 2025: Meet the Nine Finalists Competing to Represent Germany at Eurovision

Germany is one step closer to selecting its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025! The private broadcaster RTL Deutschland, in collaboration with NDR, hosted the third televised show of Chefsache ESC 2025 – Wer Singt Für Deutschland? (Who Will Sing for Germany?), where 14 semi-finalists performed their original entries for a spot in the grand final. Now, only nine acts remain in the race to represent Germany in Basel, Switzerland, on May 17, 2025, as part of the Big Five.

The Road to the Final: Chefsache ESC 2025

On Saturday, February 22, at 20:15 CET, the 14 semi-finalists took the stage to perform their songs for the first time. These contestants, selected through previous qualifying rounds, aimed to secure their place in the final with the support of a professional jury.

Following a night of spectacular performances, the expert panel, led by Stefan Raab, made the crucial decision on which acts advanced to the grand final, set to take place on Saturday, March 1.

The Chefsache ESC 2025 selection process is a result of a strategic partnership between NDR, Germany’s public broadcaster responsible for Eurovision entries until 2026, and the private television network RTL Deutschland. This new approach, envisioned by Stefan Raab, aims to elevate Germany’s Eurovision success. Its continuation as a national selection format depends on securing victory in the European competition.
