A filmic fever dream

The music video of Belgian’s Strobe Lights enters your eyes and ears like a filmic fever dream, and that is exactly what it is supposed to do. The vibe of the video is one of surrealism, energetic visuals and distinct cinematography. Next to this, there is an atmosphere of an ever-changing world in which the line between reality and illusion fades. Central to the story of the video is Red Sebastian himself who takes an elevator to an unknown destination full of alternative realities.

What Red Sebastian says about the video

When asked about his music video for Strobe Lights Red Sebastian says the following:

“In the song I play with the highs and lows of my vocals, and that is the thing I also wanted to see visualized in the video, like I did during the Belgian national final, Eurosong 2025. This time around I wanted to incorporate an actual elevator, in which my crew and I could party. Next to this, I wanted to play with the idea of me in daily life, and the entertainer that I am. I hope that everyone finds the music video as epic as I do.”

The beats of rave culture

The song, “Strobe Lights”, is an ode to the strong beats of rave culture. The song tells the story of an exciting and sizzling club night of which you do not know where it begins and where it ends, these elements can also be seen in the accompanying music video. The clip was inspired by rave culture, the symbolism of the story of Alice in Wonderland, and the disorienting excitement of places lit by strobe lights.
